MORE THAN 22.000 WALKERS AND RUNNERS IN 17 COUNTRIES FOR 1 CAUSE CIBC FIRSTCARIBBEAN 6TH WALK FOR THE CURE


Willemstad , Curacao, October 17, 2017– All eyes are on major supporter of regional cancer organizations CIBC FirstCaribbean at it hosts its annual Walk for the Cure to be held on October 21th. The walk, benefiting cancer organizations throughout the region, will unite over 22,000 passionate participants in 17 countries in which the bank operates, in a unified demonstration of their commitment to assist those affected by cancer. The Walk for the Cure is now in its 6th year.  The aim this year is to raise and surpass the USD ½ million raised last year.  So far over USD$ 300 000 has been raised from 160 corporate supporters all over the Dutch and English-speaking Caribbean.  Over the past five years, the bank has raised over USD $1.3 million from the event primarily supported by generous corporate donors and diverse fundraising activities and events hosted by staff members.

All proceeds raised through this regional effort goes to support critical cancer care services, purchase vital equipment necessary to treat patients and host general education programs to create greater awareness of the disease across the region. This year CIBC FirstCaribbean in Curaçao will again partner with Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds to stage the Walk for the Cure. Sponsors contributing to the walk are: Always, Amigoe, Curoil, Ensure, Extra, Kellogg’s, LBH Group, Neutrogena and NuCuraçao Windparken B.V. The walk will take place on October 21st and will start at 5.00p.m.  Registration takes place at  CIBC FirstCaribbean at De Ruyterkade 61.  Nafl. 17:50 for adults and Nafl.10  for children.

The walk is held to coincide with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s CIBC Run for the Cure sponsored by the bank’s parent company, CIBC. CIBC has been supporting this event for 21 years, donating millions to breast cancer research in Canada.
