Willemstad – The Airport Expansion Project at Curaçao International Airport has been steadily progressing towards it completion, which is scheduled for year-end 2018. Curaçao Airport Partners opens and tests the expanded areas in phases, in order to monitor the process and improve when necessary. This week the new Immigration Hall in the Departures area will enter its test phase, during which the operations will gradually be transitioned into the new area and automated systems.
The new Immigration Hall is 4 times the size and capacity of what the Departures Immigration area at Curaçao International Airport used to have. In addition, the airport will implement ‘boarding-pass scanner gates’ [also known as boarding pass readers], which are the new gateways towards Immigration. This doesn’t mean an end of an era for the beloved Kiss&Go stairway, as the visitors can still wave their loved ones goodbye from outside through a window as the traveler heads to the screening area. The Immigration Hall is on the ground floor, while the screening area is on the first floor, which offers passengers more space and tranquility going from one area to the next. During the test phase more customer service agents will be present to offer support to passengers, and there will also be additional signage.
The Airport Expansion Project of Curaçao International Airport will be completed by the end of 2018
