CHATA is proud to share with you the results of the 2013 CHTA Education Foundation Scholarships. The Education Foundation was established in 1987as a non-profit organization, through which scholarships and special assistance are made available for the education of Caribbean hotel industry personnel and students pursuing hotel careers.
As part of its mission, the Foundation provides people throughout the Caribbean region with an awareness of the industry’s varied career opportunities, as well as technical and professional development.
Since 1987 the Foundation has awarded close to US$ 1 million in scholarships and grants to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to the hotel and tourism industry.
This year the committee received a total of 47 applications from the Caribbean destinations. 24 promising hospitality professionals from 13 destinations were ultimately favored.
CHATA is proud to announce that from Curacao Mr. Gregory Winklaar from the Avila Hotel has been granted a scholarship. Mr. Gregory had a strong application that excited the selectors. Mr. Gregory will be attending Coronel University for a leadership skills course. He was granted a scholarship of 2800 US dollars. We wish him all the best at his chosen University!
According to CHATA President & CEO Lizanne Dindial, “I would like to take this opportunity and recognize the management of the Avila Hotel who take special care of Human Resource training and development and who have been nominating their employees for several years for career advancement scholarships from the Education Foundation. CHATA also applauds the initiative of Avila Hotel in providing Gabriella Hoop (Sales & PR Coordinator at the Avila Hotel, Curacao), who will also attend a summer course at Cornell University.
CHATA encourages all CHTA member hotels in Curacao to follow the example of Avila Hotel and make use of the opportunities the Education Foundation offers for career development and advancement to our future leaders of the industry. Human Resource development has been a priority for CHATA for many years and we proudly recognize the achievements of the Curacao Hospitality Training Foundation (CHTF) in the efforts shown in developing our labor force.
