Dear CHATA Members & Partners,
As a member and partner of our association, we believe that it is important to inform you on the latest developments within our Association. During the last few weeks, several hotel owners and or properties shared their concerns and challenges with the CHATA Board & Staff.
The fact is that not all hotel owners and or properties who are part of the association are pleased with the current results achieved as an association and tourism destination. On the other hand, it is evident that we are encountering some rough times and not only in traditional hotel performance but also in the general economic development of the island.
As the President & CEO of this association, I see this as a wake-up call and a moment for us as a team of individual hotels to come back together to build upon the ideas and beliefs that brought us together since 1967.
The current CHATA Board is aware of the importance of having one solid hotel association representing the private sector and therefore decided to organise an official CHATA Board retreat which will take place next week Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 where all board members will share their position and ideas on how to move forward.
We believe that CHATA has a right of existence and the current structures will be re-evaluated to better fit the needs and wants of today’s business world.
At the end of the day, we believe in transparency, communication and working together as private entities with individual interests but with a general interest to grow the tourism industry.
Members can rest assured to be updated in the next few weeks on the agreements and position of the current CHATA Board moving forward.
Sincerely,
Lizanne Dindial
