LOCAL, June 9, 2015 – On May 22, 2015, the employees of RBC were once again honored with the most prestigious international prize that Retail Banker International (RBI) can bestow at its annual awards competition – Global Retail Bank of the Year. RBC is the only Canadian bank to capture RBI’s top honor, and the only North American bank to earn the distinction two consecutive years in a row – an unprecedented achievement in a competition that attracted close to 400 nominations from the world’s most successful banks.
“We are very proud of this award,” said Rob Johnston, Head, Caribbean Banking (or local Managing Director). “It reflects the dedication and passion of our employees – their commitment to our clients and to the communities we serve. It is also about our clients, who put their trust in us to help them create the future they want and inspire us to reach new heights every day.”
Over the last several years, RBC Caribbean Banking has delivered a number of attractive products and services for its retail clients, which includes the seven-year car loan, competitive mortgage loans, as well as offering highly interactive and informational sessions with clients to assist and support them in making responsible financial decisions based on their unique dreams. With the support of our employees, we have also made significant investments in our communities’ right across the Caribbean – from our Young Leaders program which has helped young people across the Caribbean develop leadership skills for more than 30 years, to our commitment and sponsorship of the Little League foundations across the Dutch Caribbean which has enabled thousands of youngsters to play baseball and softball, and as such creating young leaders in our communities through sports.
Over the past 5 years RBC arranged/co-arranged in excess of USD 250 million in structured transactions for the Financial Services, Infrastructure, Energy and Telecommunications sectors of the Dutch Caribbean, ensuring continuous growth and innovation.
This year’s RBI awards program marks the fourth year in a row that RBC has been among the most recognized banks – in the history of the RBI Award’s, no other Canadian-based bank has ever achieved this level of international recognition.
